The Dictatorship Has Begun
"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier. Just so long as I'm the dictator." - President George W. BushAs of right now, this very moment, we are living in a dictatorship. Our full right to protest, our right to speak out against the administration, our right to demonstrate peaceful acts of contempt towards President of the United States, could be suspended by President Bush at any time. PDD 51 signed May 9th of this year literally makes the President a dictator, as well as his personal funding of the John Warner Defense Authorization Act for Domestic Oppression of the American People.
This means that President Bush can enforce martial law for as little reason as to "restore public order," and for the first time in history, it makes the definition of "public order" 100% up to him. Essentially, he can identify any of us at any time as an "enemy" if he doesn't like what we have to say. He can and detain us in Guantanamo Bay without right to lawyers. He can shut down the government of any state and enforce martial law at any time to do so.
Would he? Okay, probably not, but let's not put anything past him, right? And the point is that for the first time, he could if he wanted to. Never before has a President sought to take so much power away from individual states and/or the American people. Never before has a President found so many loopholes in a republic to twist it into a dictatorship. Never before has any President had this much power. There is a series of channels they have all had to go through. Without those channels that he is so swiftly acquiring full power over, we are electing a dictator. Our civil liberties are vanishing and the Constitution is on its way to being nothing more than a piece of paper.
Even Republican Ron Paul of Texas recently stated, "Time is short but our course of action should be clear and everyone must choose their personal course of action for themselves. Education, conventional political action or even peaceful civil disobedience to bring about necessary changes, but let it not be said that we did nothing."
What in the hell did we do? Where were we? How could the American people have made such a grievous mistake by allowing this man and his power hungry administration into office? At that time, were we really all so caught up in the Backstreet Boys and Britney and our own quest of aesthetic beauty, all things superficial and self-indulgent that we totally ignored what was happening under our noses because it wasn't "fun" to read about? Because it wasn't pretty and took some actual thought, research and public debate?
We've got to take some of the time we spend reading US Weekly, watching Entertaiment Tonight, hell visiting JasonCurious.com and spend it educating ourselves so that we can educate others.
Ron Paul said it best. Time is of the essence. We can't waste any more or the damage will be completely irreparable.

The Porn industry should unite together for a dedicated website, have porn stars making video to raise the awareness of all the possibilities so one can dig JasonCurious.com but also getting those info at the same time.
Like the "Plane Stupid" protestors at London Heathrow Airport, extraordinary actions at extraordinary time.
Whether Martial law is going to be a reality or just anyone's guess, never say never.
Hey I happen to like Emperor Palpatine...I mean President Bush.
PSYCH! JUST KIDDING!!
I would like to know what anyone can't do today that they were able to do before Bush got in office? People act like there is a difference in him and any other President before him. There isn't one thing different. He is a man just like the rest of them that wanted power.
And everthing you stated he could do is something that every President before him could do already. And if you bring up the wirless phone tapping well my response is two fold. 1) They have been doing this well before Bush ever thougt about running for office. 2) If they want to listen to my conversation on the phone well they need to be prepaired to be either interested or bored. Either way I have nothing to hide.
Everybody wants to get in a panic about what he is able to do. Well the next President will have the same power and the next one after that as well. Your concern should not be just about him but of the power the President has? Oh, and as for your Dictactor comment, well if you were living under a dictator then this blog would have been down over six years ago. Not to mention you would own nothing!
Anyone here who believes that the people down in Guantanamo Bay don't belong there needs a check up from the neck up. Those people value death. We value life. See the differnce? We should have left them in Iraq or somewhere in the middle east so people that think they deserve the same rights as Americans would shut the fuck up. As for the torture issue well I guess that is all in how you define torture. If we want to see real torture we should just release them back into the country they come from. And the ones that talked will not see the light of day very long. Then we should have someone there to describe how they were killed and more than likely they would have been tortured.
The problem I have is how anyone ever thought that these people wanted real freedom is beyond me. No matter what their party affiliation was. All of our lawmakers are a worthless bunch and they have been for years. I say put restriction on all lawmakers. You can only serve two terms and your out of there. That would be a huge step in the right direction to cleaning our political system up. But that is wishful thinking since that would never pass in either house chamber since all of them love their power.
And as for those people over there, well they have been killing each other for centuries and they are not going to stop on our account by no means. So lets just bring our boys home and let them kill each other for as long as they want. And if any them happen to come calling for help, and they will, we just tell them to piss off. It is not our fight.
This country needs to worry more about itself than other countries. We need to stop getting involved in other countries matters. If a country needs our help then we should be very carful in the kind of help we provide. Otherwise we don't need to push our way in like we did with Iraq.

Jimmy - A friend of mine suggested recently that the porn industry shut itself down and refuse to produce anymore pornography until we ended the war. A nice idea, but I think the current administration would just throw a party. xo L, J.
Angel - You were only shades away from calling him the Duke I'd imagine lol. xo L, J.
GMan - I agree with a lot of your arguments but not all of them. Moreover though, sad as it may be, I'm just greatful you're a passionate participant because so few are it seems and we're getting nowhere without people like you. "Elected dictatorship" is what I was describing. The Hitler/Bush photo is a bit of a stretch, I'll admit. We're by no means living under that sort of legal system. But the President's power has always been set up to be far more minimal than the majority of the American public believes when you think about the amount of channels he has to go through, the amount of votes he has to get, etc. to shut something down or to turn something into law. And no, I'm sorry, before this administration, the President did NOT have the power to deem you and me an "enemy" and have us shipped out of here. This administration made that possible. This is not an option that has been made available to the President until this year. As for the wire tapping, they've been talking about it for years, yes, but again -- never been done until now. Whether or not you have something to hide isn't really the point. Your right to privacy is. I don't care if I'm having a conversation about the weather, I don't want anyone being privy to it except the person I'm speaking with. There's no way around this. Our freedoms are slowly being taken away from us, so gradually and swiftly, that if it continues at this rate someday we'll wake up and go, "Whoa. Wait. When did this happen? What about an America?" So we do agree that we need to focus more on our own country than others. And yes, it's totally ridiculous that we went in there to give them some sort of chance at the freedom Americans have -- so if we both agree it's ridiculous, maybe that's not the real reason why we're there. Right? Bring 'em home! And I'm with you on the two month thing too. Wow would that ever keep people's asses in line. But you know, that would be too close to true democracy for this country to deal with. For all our talk of democracy, we do not live in one. We live in a republic. We the people don't make the decisions. We elect the people who make the decisions. xo L, J.
Jason,
Thanks, for the reply. I will agree with your statement about the President determining who is an enemy and who is not. But from what I have read on this new "Power" per say is that he does make the final decision. However, he makes that decision based on the evidence presented to him. Since we have not seen a mass amount of Americans rounded up and sent off to Cuba I will wait to pass judgement.
I will say that if a person no matter where they come from makes threats to kill thousands of people, I hope the hell that law enforcement at least checks that individual out and doesn't make some ass nine statement about freedom of speech. Making threats toward a group of people is not freedom of speech.
People credit the Administration for the fact that we have not been attacked since 911. Well I put most of that credit on our law enforcement and to citizens speaking up.
Unfortunately this country will get attacked again. We have to many holes in our system to close that will allow it to happen.
As for the wire tapping issue. It has been used by every President going back to Carter. I know every one of them used the FISA court. They have all admitted to that. And a few of them before Bush argued that they could wire tap without going to that court, and did so. And I am sure it was done before him as well. Nothing to the large scale that Bush ordered had ever been ordered. I will concede that arguement. It is just now we have people that can't keep secrets that are hired to do just that.
And I must confess that I have friends that have worked in certain areas that tell me that no one person sits and listens to any one conversation. It is all done by computers. That is the data mining they speak of. I am more apt to believe them than I am some upset employee who is out to make a buck.
I can respect the Privacy arguements, but I can also see the other arguement that the program may have saved lives. I just think that right after we were attacked we would expect this type of program to be ordered. But I question why it continued to go on for years. They had plenty of oportunities to go to the FISA court to get permission to continue. And they probably would have got it.
Lets face it there are just some things that people don't care to know anything about. And this was one of them for years. One can only imagine how many other programs are in operation that we don't know about.

Thanks you for taking the time/space from your site to make
that entry and reference. You've encouraged me do something
similar with one of my sites.
Best of luck

Jason please stick to porn. You are not intelligent enough to comment on world affairs.

and other stuff from you
in the future ! Take care !!!! Tom
While I adore you, Jason, you are wrong about a so-called Bush dictatorship. If you want a clear, present example of a democracy moving towards a dictatorship, then you shouldn't look to the US...you need only look to Russia. It has been disturbing to watch Putin take a country that has fought so hard for freedoms of the press, freedoms of expression, and for a capitalist economy back to the Soviet Union era. While you can argue President Bush has expanded the powers of the executive office - from domestic surveillance to war tribunals...and no one disagrees with that - he has hardly created a dictatorship. The press still report on what they choose (often to the detriment of the Administration)...a myriad of religions are still practiced (the first Muslim Congressman was elected in November 2006)...and our right to free speech has not been impeded (hence your ability to write this blog and our ability to comment on it). Sadly, we still live in the democracy where most Americans don't exercise their freedom and right to vote, so it only feels like a dictatorship.
Sam - What is your site? I would love to see what you posted. xo L, J.
11:28 - Suck my dick.
TommyS - Thanks. I would love to be a panelist for something like that, are you kidding?! Rob Romoni is always a blast and yes I was sorry to hear about Micky's too. I attended their fundraiser and got to see a lot of old friends there. Great times at that bar. Chi Chi is doing her thing. She rocks on as does the rest of the biz. No one will ever own it all. Not me at least. xo L, J.
Jason - See my comment to GMan above. xo L, J.
people just don't care. It makes me crazy to think that people only care when something catastrophic happens in their daily affairs and it is too late. I have been arguing with my friends, blogging, starting the conversation again and again... we need a new solution. Education means nothing without conviction. You can listen to logic and know that killing a person is wrong, but if you enjoy doing it and you have no conviction, it logic has no value. I think there needs to be some indipendent groups start upto make convicting videos, reads, rallies and other sorts or things to convict and convince people that tyrrany isn't even right around the corner... it has already busted down the door.
