An Uphill Battle
The House of Representatives passed a bill Friday for a 2008 Iraq pullout. To get this to become law by Congress would require not only the vote of every democrat, but about twelve republicans as well. An extremely tall order, but hey, at least there's hope. Right?
Mmm, no. Not really.
President Bush announced immediately following the passing of the bill that the House was wasting its time, that it would never become law and promised that if it reached his desk, he would use his power to veto it.
Lovely. Both chambers would need two-thirds majorities to override his veto.
Dictatorship. Don't fool yourselves. We're only two-thirds of the way from living in it.

Passing the bill on this is wasting time? Like the current situation in Iraq isn't? Two-thirds may sound possible to pass, but who knows if anyone would defect at the last minute.
Amen to that and how very scary it truly is.

Jimmy - Yup. And it has certainly been a waste of way more important things than time. xo L, J.
Ronald - Agreed. And I mean, if THEY have that little power, how much does that really say about how much we have? xo L, J.
I don't know if you read this report that few homeless families living in a shelter got free homes thanks to a Japanese millionaire (giving away his 8 houses for free). This is ironic because poverty is pretty much an issue addressed during the annual State of the Union.
Anything accomplished from the state of the union? That's also a waste of time too, not to mention our time are wasted as well for unable to watch tv for 2 hours.
cheers
