The Next JFK

Holy crap!

Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of John F. Kennedy, has been doing major, major endorsement work for Barack Obama, claiming that she was too young to understand what it meant when people told her how much her father inspired them and how she feels she has now found her own voice of inspiration for a new world.

Wow. Caroline Kennedy believes Barack Obama is the next JFK. I'm a little inspired by that alone!

And The Republican side has the shadow of Ronald Reagan.

Is this the 21st century election, or it's a retro election between 1960s and 1980s?

Yes I do understand some of the references but the way media reference made it look like the battle of 60s vs 80s.

Here's my attitude: Black cat white cat, as long as the cat catches mouse, it is a good cat. (Chairman Mao Ze Dong)

There is a cloud of pragmatic hope that surrounds Obama. That is something our country has needed for a long time, not a demagogue or cult personality but a real figure who can make us all proud to be American. I don't know if that's him, but he is the closest I have seen since I have been voting. I will tell you this: he is also the first that isn't of the generation that lost their heroes and then just gave up on the whole idea in favor of absolute corrupt selfishness. He is mine and your generation and believe me, if its going to turn around, we are it. Here is to hoping the nation recognizes that potential.

Kennedy had more than brilliant words and more than hope. He had a plan and a way to get it done. I like the idea of Obama, but when you look into his policies, they are little more than good intentions. What Senator Clinton lacks in "change" she makes up for in preparation. Everything she is proposing, which is pretty much what Obama is proposing, she has a direct and substantial way to get done. He is a great candidate in 8 years. She is the winner this election. Trust me. She is where your vote should go.

Jimy - You're sooooo right. It has definitely been played out that way in the media at times. I hadn't even thought about that! xo L, J.

Gene - Agreed. On all counts. We need a serious dose of what he has to offer these days. xo L, J.

Brenton - Good intentions are a damned good place to start. I want someone who I trust. Someone who has honor and ethics and standards and believes in doing what's good and what's right for our country. Someone who is not limited in their thinking and believes that we can change the world and make it a better place. He is obviously someone who will surround himself with the right people to formulate plans to execute what it is that he wants. But without that sense of honor, there's really nothing more than another empty, hollow politican with empty, hollow promises. Hillary might have a plan, but when push comes to shove and she sees how difficult doing the right thing is going to be, what will she do? I'm voting for the person who would go back into the burning building to pull out the kids. I don't think Hillary would. If I'm wrong, enlighten me. Please. If she has what Bartlett had in The West Wing, I'm all for it. I just don't see it in her yet -- and you sure as hell see it in Obama! I mean, great. She's got plans. Plans don't count for shit anymore though. We all hear about them during the election and then what happens? I want the best person. Not the best politician. xo L, J.

I don't see it in Senator Obama. I do see it in President (and Senator) Kennedy when I watch old speeches and press conferences. I don't see the fight in Senator Obama. I don't think there is a President Bartlett in this election. I don't think we have had a Bartlett for a long time, but I don't think that Obama is the closest thing to it either. President BArtlett cared, but he was also a savy politician, smart, not just a good speaker, strong and a fighter, not just a man you wanted to believe in. Senator Obama has good intentions and a great way of speaking, but the first threee things that come to mind when I think of him are unprepared, weak and inexperienced. He is not prepared to take over that office from day one and fix the mess that President George W. Bush has left us. Senator Obama has complained at every turn about the way his opponents have run their campaigns. While I think it is well intentioned to think that everyone can be nice in politics, if you actually expect that to happen, then you're living in a fairy tale. How does he think the Republicans are going to treat him? Every Democrat in the United States was crying for Kennedy to not get the nomination because of his lack of experience, while he did great in office, he also had 14 years in the congress, Senator Obama has 2. Is Senator Clinton our Bartlett? No. Neither is Senator Obama, but she is absolutley the best person for the job right now. She has been there and done that and will be able to immediatley make an impact from day one. And as she stated. "It took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, it just might take a Clinton to clean up after this one.

Actually, I just read a huge profile on Obama in Newsweek and I will agree with you, he is definitely not Bartlett. But who he actually IS, I mean right down to small details, is Matt Santos and that is promising. I am going to read a profile on Clinton tonight before I make my final decision, but I don't believe that he's living in a fairy tale. He's living in the real world and the real world is made up of real choices and he is making the right ones. Not the easy ones, but the right ones. And that goes a long, long way in my book. xo L, J.

I'm voting for Clinton. Obama sounds great, but he neither the experience or the tenacity to handle things as of now. Not to mention his aligning himself with homophobic religious figures is not endearing either. Hillary has a better track record with supporting the gay community.

Reagan was the "Great communicator" but he slept thru most of his presidency and let his very competent staff and Nancy run the country! I really see Obama as a Democratic Reagan.

He is Damn inspirational and may set the wider agenda but if he is smart he will have sharp, committed people to "implement" his agenda. I do not see Obama as hands on I see him as a Motivator and an Inspiration to those who will get the job done.

The American Presidency is too much for one man, in fact we are the only major nation to have a combined office! Most (France,Russia) have a Head of state and a Chief of State,,a political ball buster and a person to pet the Thanksgiving Turkey!

Good choice of videos Jason,,I posted a Blog Friday about how it was over for Hillary and the Obama factor,,i did not think he would clean sweep Saturday night!

His speech in Richmond tonite was amazing he told the nation if he wins Virginia he is prepared to start the fall campaign Wednesday! No mention of Hillary!

If he wins in Virginia She is in DEEP Trouble and I see no way to salvage the campaign.
