Madonna Already Did It

Maybe one of the reasons us fags are not as keen on Christina Aguilera's latest incarnation is because it's a total knock off on what Madonna accomplished only 16 years ago. (At least Stripped was really original.) Madonna's then re-invention as the blonde bombshell for her album I'm Breathless (an often overlooked gem in the star's repotoire) and her Blonde Ambition Tour was one of the most kick ass and most remembered of her many faces. But never was it more evident than here at the Academy Awards as she performed "Sooner or Later," the Stephen Sonheim hit from that album and the film Dick Tracy. And never -- until extensive vocal training for Evita -- had her talent been so utterly laid out before her peers. This is without a doubt one of the top 5 live performances of her career. It makes me wonder when she's gonna finally get to work on that Broadway musical she's been talking about for years! Who knew she could belt and growl like this?!
